On January 23, 2025, Senior Director Jennifer Hong spoke on “The Future of QUAD – The Outcome of the U.S. Presidential Election and Its Influence on QUAD Cooperation” at the 10th International Symposium for Junior Researchers hosted by Waseda University’s Organization for Regional and Inter-Regional Studies (ORIS). Highlighting the importance of democratic partners outside the QUAD framework, she remarked, “Taking out the QUAD countries and taking out people who are not friends in there, it really came down to two countries, two key non-QUAD members in the region, South Korea and Taiwan.” Despite their non-member status, both countries face shared security challenges and exhibit a proactive stance on multilateralism, making them vital stakeholders in the future of QUAD cooperation.
