JAMIE WEINSTEIN: … if we woke up tomorrow and heard that China was beginning its invasion of Taiwan or going about the process at least to try to take over Taiwan, what do you think the U.S. should do?
MICHAEL MAZZA: …[If] the invasion hadn’t started yet, I think you do send ships to the Taiwan Strait in order to interpose ourselves between the two sides. I think you prepare to intervene militarily. And in the meantime, you signal that you’re going to significantly ramp up economic pressure. I would move as close as feasibly possible to a complete severing of the U.S.-China economic relationship or signal you’re prepared to do so if China does proceed with the invasion…
